The chances of regenerative energy in Romania

The "Second Day Dedicated to Biomass Energy in Brasov" - organized by TTM - informs on the legislation and technology related to producing energy out of regenerative sources.

The second day dedicated to biomass energy in Brasov has offered an outline of the research situation in universities and of the technological development in industry, especially in the case of biogas installations, biomass energetic plants, substitute fuels, and wind energy. Concrete examples and the realistic rendering of knowledge were highly considered. "The durable management and the materials' circulation are the essential items of any project to generate regenerative energy.", said Jürgen Ludwig, General Manager of TTM. "Only by reusing waste and by using renewable raw materials - for example, in a wood plantation for energy - can one achieve a greater independence from the energy importation".

Over 100 participants were given the chance to gather information on this subject, by attending the event organized at "Ramada Brasov" Hotel.

The investor talked about the biogas installation planned with SC Carmolimp of Ucea, Brasov County, covering a great part of this company's energy needs, out of residual materials and renewable raw materials.

The presentation of Seeger Engineering AG on a German biomass energetic plant had a great impact. Electrical energy for approximately 10.000 homesteads and heat from the central-heating station for more than 18.000 inhabitants are simultaneously produced in Neustrelitz, out of wood and wood waste.

Nehlsen AG Company presented the steam power plant in Stavenhagen, using freely the usable / recyclable part of domestic waste as substitute fuel. Apart from the electrical energy supplied for approximately 6.000 homesteads, Pfanny Company is also supplied with thermal energy for manufacturing food. Thus, over 200.000 tons of steam are annually supplied, to process approximately 150.000 potatoes; the use of substitute fuels recovers 14 million cubic metres of methane gas.

Through examples, Mr. Ludwig has brought proof in favour of the economic efficiency of electrical and thermal energy producing installations. "Only the combination between irredeemable subventions to support the investment and the additional compensation of nationally supplied electrical energy - by green certificates - makes nowadays these projects profitable.", Mr. Ludwig expressly underlined this aspect.

TTM will organize The Day Dedicated to Biomass Energy in the following year, too, thus offering an annually updated situation over the development in this field. "We will follow the manner in which EU objectives are rendered: three times 20 until 2020 (lower energy consumption by 20%, lower CO2 emissions by 20%, and 20% regenerative energy) throughout Europe and especially throughout Romania."
